Do You Qualify for Certification? A Simple Checklist to Find Out
Certifications can help business owners gain access to new opportunities, contracts, and partnerships. Whether you’re aiming for a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), or another certification, getting certified can position your business for growth in both the public and private sectors.
For businesses in Texas, Louisiana, California, and Georgia, certifications can:
Increase visibility in supplier diversity databases.
Provide access to government contracts.
Enhance credibility with potential clients and corporate partners.
Business owners should consider certification if they meet any of the following:
✔ Minority-Owned Businesses: At least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by individuals from minority groups.
✔ Women-Owned Businesses: At least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens.
✔ Veteran-Owned Businesses: Owned and controlled by veterans.
✔ Small Businesses: Must meet the SBA's size standards for your industry.
